Version of October 19, 2026
1. Who we are and acceptance
Ausca is operated by [NOM LÉGAL DE LA SOCIÉTÉ], a Québec business corporation, located at [ADRESSE] (“Ausca”, “we”). Email: bonjour@ausca.app.
These terms govern the use of the website https://ausca.app, the web app https://ausca.app/app/ and, once available, the Ausca iOS app (together, the “service”).
By using the service or creating an account, you accept these terms. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal information.
2. What Ausca is, and what it is not
Ausca is an educational tool for practising clinical reasoning and patient interviews with fictional patients.
Ausca:
- is not a medical device;
- does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment;
- must not be used for patient care or for any real clinical decision;
- does not replace official guidelines, product monographs, your program’s teaching or clinical supervision.
In a real medical emergency, contact emergency services.
3. Who can use Ausca
The service is for adults in medical training (medical students, residents) and health professionals. You must be 18 or older to use the service.
4. Your account
You can use part of the service without an account. Your progress is then stored only in your browser.
To create an account, you provide an email address. We send you a single-use sign-in link; there is no password. On iOS, Sign in with Apple will also be offered.
You are responsible for the security of your email inbox, which gives access to your account. Notify us promptly at bonjour@ausca.app if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
An account is personal. You may not share or transfer it.
5. Free tier
The following features are offered at no cost: summary sheets, flashcards, branching clinical cases, inspection, scripted patients and duels.
We may change the free tier. We will not remove a free feature in a way that affects an ongoing paid subscription without complying with section 16.
6. AI features
The AI features include: AI voice patients, detailed AI feedback, and AI-generated cards and patients.
6.1 Free trial
New accounts receive a free trial of the AI features lasting 30 days, which includes 8 AI interviews. The trial ends at whichever comes first: the end of the 30 days or the use of the 8 interviews. [To be confirmed.]
The trial does not automatically convert into a paid subscription. At the end of the trial, the AI features are no longer available unless you choose to subscribe. [Confirm: no payment method is requested during the trial. If this changes, revise this section.]
[Specify whether the trial is limited to one per person and any measures against multiple trials.]
6.2 Subscription
After the trial, the AI features are offered by monthly subscription:
- Price: CAD 4.99 per month in Canada; USD 4.99 per month in the United States; [taxes extra];
- Included: 15 AI interviews per month;
- Daily limits: 5 card generations and 2 patient generations per day;
- unused interviews do not roll over to the next month.
The subscription renews automatically every month, at the same price, until you cancel it. [Specify the billing date: subscription anniversary date.]
Before you enter into the subscription, we clearly present: a description of the included features, the price, taxes, total charges, billing frequency, automatic renewal and how to cancel. You can then accept, refuse or correct your order. After purchase, we send you an email confirmation containing this information, which you can keep and print.
6.3 Payment
- On the web: payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card number.
- On iOS: the purchase is made through Apple in-app purchase and is subject to Apple’s terms. Billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds for these purchases are managed by Apple, in your Apple account settings.
Online payment is not yet available at launch; only the free trial is. These terms will apply to the subscription as soon as it is offered.
6.4 Cancellation by you
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account (or, for an iOS purchase, in your Apple account settings). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the monthly period already paid; you keep access to the AI features until that date and you are not charged again. [Verify under the Consumer Protection Act.]
This rule applies subject to the rights the law gives you, including the right to cancel a distance contract under Québec’s Consumer Protection Act, and any more favourable cancellation or refund right under the law of your place of residence. [Specify the refund policy.]
6.5 Fair use
The monthly and daily limits ensure a fair service and predictable costs. We may temporarily suspend the AI features of an account that attempts to circumvent these limits.
7. Limits of AI
AI patients, feedback and AI-generated content are produced automatically. They may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable. The score and feedback after an interview are for your learning only; they are not an official assessment.
You must use the AI features only for the intended educational simulation.
8. Voice
Dictation and the patient’s voice are produced by your browser or device. Their availability and quality depend on it. Ausca receives no audio recordings. The vendor of your browser or operating system may process audio under its own terms.
9. Ausca content
9.1 Provenance badges
Each content item carries a badge showing its origin:
- Clinician-reviewed (“Révisé par un clinicien”): content reviewed by a clinician;
- Sourced and verified (“Sourcé et vérifié”): content written by AI agents from cited public sources, then independently checked by a second AI agent;
- AI-generated, unverified (“Généré par IA, non vérifié”): AI-produced content that has not been verified;
- User-created (“Créé par un utilisateur”): content created by an Ausca user.
9.2 Possible errors
Despite our efforts, content may contain errors or be out of date, whatever its badge. It does not replace official guidelines, product monographs or clinical supervision. Always check authoritative sources.
You can report an error from the item concerned.
9.3 Exam questions
Ausca does not reproduce questions from exam question banks.
10. Your content
10.1 Ownership
You keep ownership of the notes, sheets and cards you create (“your content”).
10.2 Licence granted to Ausca
You grant Ausca a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence, for as long as necessary, to host, reproduce, process and display your content solely to provide the service to you, including sending it to our AI provider when you use an AI feature.
If, and only if, you choose to publish a shared deck, this licence also includes the right to display it to other users of the service for as long as it remains published. You can withdraw it at any time.
The licence ends when you delete your content or your account, subject to backups, which roll off on the cycle set out in the privacy policy.
10.3 Prohibited content
You must not enter, upload or publish:
- information about real patients or any other identifiable real person;
- exam questions or question-bank content (for example UWorld, AMBOSS, Medical Council of Canada (MCC), NBME);
- copyrighted material for which you do not hold the necessary rights;
- illegal, hateful, harassing or misleading content.
We may remove content that breaches these terms.
11. Acceptable use
You must not:
- extract or collect the service’s content by automated means (“scraping”);
- resell, rent or redistribute the service or its content;
- reverse engineer Ausca’s AI relay, circumvent its limits or use it outside the app;
- use the AI features for anything other than the educational simulation;
- harass other users, including in duels and leaderboards, or choose an offensive or misleading display name;
- cheat in duels or leaderboards;
- interfere with the operation or security of the service.
12. Ausca’s intellectual property
The service, its software, its brand and its content (except your content and other users’ content) belong to Ausca or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your studies, in accordance with these terms.
13. Availability and changes to the service
We make reasonable efforts to keep the service available, but it may be interrupted, including for maintenance or because of a provider outage. The service may evolve: we may add, change or remove features. A change affecting an ongoing paid subscription is subject to section 16.
14. Suspension or closure of accounts
You can delete your account at any time in the app. Deletion is immediate and ends your web subscription [verify how an ongoing subscription is handled on deletion]. A subscription purchased on iOS must be cancelled in your Apple account settings.
We may suspend or close your account if you materially breach these terms, including by entering information about real patients or compromising the security of the service. Except in an emergency or for a serious breach, we will notify you first. If you are a consumer in Québec, we will not end your subscription without at least 60 days’ written notice, unless you are in default.
15. Liability
We provide the service with care and in good faith. However, given its educational nature:
- we do not guarantee that content or feedback is accurate, complete or up to date;
- you are responsible for how you use the content, in particular for not using it in real patient care.
If you are a consumer: nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for our own fault or that of our representatives, or the warranties and remedies given to you by applicable law, including Québec’s Consumer Protection Act.
If you are not a consumer (for example, if you use the service on behalf of an institution), to the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event, and we are not liable for indirect damages. This limit does not apply to intentional or gross fault. [Validate the scope of this clause.]
16. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, in particular: the description of the features offered, usage limits, the subscription price, payment terms and acceptable-use rules.
For any change, we send you written notice (by email) at least 30 days before it takes effect. The notice sets out the new clause, or the amended clause and its previous version, the effective date and your rights.
If the change increases your obligations or reduces ours, you may refuse it and cancel your subscription without cost or penalty by notifying us no later than 30 days after it takes effect.
For an iOS purchase, price changes are also subject to Apple’s rules.
17. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your place of residence, which prevail in case of conflict, and you may bring a claim before the competent courts there. Nothing in these terms requires you to use arbitration or prevents you from taking part in a class action.
Before bringing a claim, we invite you to write to us at bonjour@ausca.app to try to resolve the dispute amicably. You may also contact the Office de la protection du consommateur (Québec).
18. Language
These terms were drafted in French, and the French version is presented to you first. This English version is a translation provided for your convenience. In case of any discrepancy between the two versions, the French version prevails.
19. General
- If a clause is found invalid, the others remain in force.
- Not exercising a right is not a waiver of that right.
- You may not assign your rights without our consent. We may assign these terms as part of a reorganization or sale of the business, with notice to you, without reducing your rights.
- These terms, the privacy policy and, where applicable, your subscription confirmation form the agreement between you and Ausca.
